But excessive population and<br>its unplanned rapid growth may become a big obstacle to the development of any<br>country and also a potential threat to the national security. This study sought to<br>investigate the issues and prospects of population growth and proffer strategies<br>for enhancing national security in Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, the dimensions to<br>the population growth are to be viewed at findings ways and means to skillfully<br>employ the population resources so that these can contribute in whatever form<br>to the national economy and security. The effective utilization of manpower<br>by developing their skills in the field of education and technical training can<br>mitigate the adverse effects of over population to a greater magnitude. Due to<br>inadequacy of employment opportunities, many of the active working group of<br>the population seeks employment overseas, thus contributing to economic growth<br>of the country. However, the population can only be rightfully absorbed if all<br>opportunities are explored. In addition to internal employment, the developing<br>countries have vast potential to export particularly the skilled manpower. This is<br>another way to reduce the repugnant impact on national economy and national<br>security as well. To ameliorate observed factors that could lead to national security<br>problems, some recommendations were proffered. These include among others,<br>setting of specific goals for each strategy to control the existing population<br>growth and turning it to demographic dividend to improve upon various security<br>issues.</p> ER -
