Abstract

Bangladesh – Myanmar are close neighbours with common historical legacies and shared border, both land and sea. Bangladesh had a military dictatorship past like Myanmar has it now. Bangladesh has made a transition to democracy. There are a few irritants between the two neighbours like border demarcation and Rohingya issues. Cross border insurgencies at times, also affect the inter state relations. Trade and commerce cloud have flourished but as yet it could not cross the threshold. Many of the irritants have been mutually resolved and it can be said ice has started melting. There are prospects of better relations. Serious efforts should be given by both the governments to develop relations in different dimensions.
